South Shore Platform Bed: An Affordable Option

With platform beds all the rage, it's pretty exciting to find one that is affordable but has all the style features of the more expensive models that are so popular right now. That's why I was surprised to find that the South Shore Platform Bed is available for about $130 for a Queen size bed or about $110 for a Full size bed. If you are going to get something cheaply this is much better than a futon and a good deal more comfortable.

You do have to assemble it yourself and it comes with instructions for doing so. It is a fairly heavy piece of furniture so you can have a friend help you if you like. It will probably easier if you do and make it go a little bit faster.

One of the best things about the South Shore Platform Bed is its clean lines, which platform beds are known for. They are based on an elegant and simplistic design that doesn't take up much space and looks modern and inviting. They are great for kids and teens, as well as a luxurious master suite or guest room. It sits about 10 inches from the ground and fits nicely in a smaller room.

You can get the South Shore Platform Bed in Maple, Cocoa and Espresso finishes. The darker Espresso lends a dramatic look to a room while the light Maple gives a sense of tranquility. The bed is loosely based on a Japanese or Zen concept of simplicity and elegance, as are other types of platform beds. If you want to use that idea to its maximum potential, try using the rest of your decor to elaborate on that theme. Add screens, mats and mood lighting to keep the environment calming.

The South Shore Platform Bed is also very comfortable. Platform beds are designed so that you don't need box springs or any other base. You just place your mattress directly on top of the platform bed and you are ready to go. A lip is added to the edges of the platform to keep the mattress from sliding around on top of the platform.
