Asian Platform Bed Styles

When my husband and I decided to redecorate our home in a more modern style, one of the first things we knew we wanted to buy was a new Asian platform bed! The most beautiful designer rooms we have seen usually incorporated modern, clean lines and some Asian influence, which is extremely compatible with contemporary furniture and decor.

As we shopped for this Asian platform bed (the key piece in our new design scheme), we realized that there were quite a lot of looks and brands to choose from. We needed to get a better idea of what we were looking for in order to narrow it down.

One of the most important considerations was the height of our new Asian platform bed. For some people, the lower the bed, the higher the style. While I do think the lower Asian platform bed models are attractive, we had a special consideration which is that I have mildly arthritic knees so I did not want to have to worry about developing pain in my knees having to get up and down from the bed over and over. For this reason we decided to go with a slightly taller height and luckily for us there are plenty of Asian platform bed designs to choose from so it was no problem at all to narrow down our list that way.

We also looked at various colors for our new Asian platform bed. Black or espresso has a very sleek look that really compliments other Asian influenced furniture and accessories. On the other hand, there are so many gorgeous wood finishes out there that we decided to choose a more medium wood finish that we thought would lend a more neutral look to the rest of our pieces. After all, very dark and very light finishes offer a very dramatic look which is also quite striking, but it just wasn't what we were looking for this time around.

We eventually settled on a beautiful Asian platform bed, which we ordered online. When we received it and put our entire room together complete with luxurious bedding, I thought I would just spend the rest of my life in that room! It was so peaceful and calming it was like having a spa in my own house. The height turned out to be perfect for my knees and the color matched everything else we had bought perfectly! It was just what we wanted.
